On Friday August 2, 2024, our Globital team gathered at the vibrant Melrose Arch Fire and Ice in Johannesburg, South Africa, to celebrate Copywriters Day – dedicated to collaboration, innovation, and future planning. This event brought together our South African team, CEO Damian Papworth from Australia and COO Asjad Afzal from Pakistan, all united by a shared commitment to excellence in digital marketing.

Copywriting Strategy Workshop

The day kicked off with a series of interactive discussion workshops led by Damian and Asjad, focused on shaping the future of our copywriting services. Gathered in a conference room filled with energy and enthusiasm, they engaged in meaningful conversations about the trajectory of our work.

Key Workshop Topics:

  1. The Future of Copywriting: We explored how to create and capture new demand in a rapidly evolving industry.
  2. Copywriting Services We Offer: We categorised our services as settlers (standard industry offerings), migrators (competitive services that improve value), or pioneers (innovative services that create new value). The discussion highlighted that while many of our services fall into the settler category, there is significant potential for growth and innovation.
  3. Services Value Proposition: We identified key elements that set our copywriting services apart, including quality assurance, technical writing expertise, lead times, customer relationships, tailored services, native-English copy, pricing, and service range.
  4. Competitor Analysis and Comparison: A candid discussion on where Globital stands compared to similar service providers, revealing areas for improvement.

Asjad also shared the journey of the Copywriting Department, highlighting the challenges faced during a difficult financial year and the need for continued evolution to thrive in the market. Notable phrases from these discussions included seeing ourselves as “prompt engineers,” leveraging AI tools effectively, and the importance of individual responsibility for quality output.

Bonding Over Lunch

After a morning of deep discussions, the team moved to Mezepoli for a well-deserved lunch. Everyone was able to connect on a personal level, fostering a sense of camaraderie and strengthening relationships within the team.

Creative Session at Artjamming

We concluded the day with a team-building activity at Artjamming, where each team member received a canvas and a superhero icon to paint. To symbolise our unity, we chose the signature Globital blue as the background for each canvas. The completed artworks will combine to create a large mural, which will be donated to a local children’s hospital in Johannesburg, brightening the lives of young patients.

Reflections and Takeaways

Reflecting on Copywriters Day 2024, it’s clear that the event was more than just a day of workshops and activities – it was a powerful reminder of the passion, dedication, and creativity that drives our team. The discussions were honest and filled with innovative ideas from the team, and the connections formed were invaluable. We look forward to applying the insights gained to deliver even more exceptional copywriting services to our valued clients.

In the words of the attendees, the day was “money and time well spent!” It was an exceptionally positive experience, and we left with a better understanding of our roles within the Globital family and a renewed enthusiasm for the future.

We look forward to many more days like this, where collaboration, innovation, and a shared vision for the future come together to fuel our success.
